Google And Samsung Preview Intelligent Eyewear Coming This Fall

Google and Samsung are moving deeper into AI wearables with a new class of intelligent eyewear designed to bring Gemini assistance into everyday frames.

Revealed at Google I/O 2026, the glasses are being developed through the Android XR platform, which Google built with Samsung and Qualcomm. The first wave will focus on audio glasses, while display glasses are also planned to show users relevant information directly when needed.

The first collections are scheduled to launch this fall in select markets, with more details expected in the coming months. Pricing has not been disclosed, and availability may vary by market.

The eyewear has been created with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, giving the devices a fashion-first push instead of positioning them as obvious tech gadgets. Gentle Monster will bring a more disruptive and refined design language, while Warby Parker will focus on a cleaner, timeless frame style.

The goal is simple: make AI glasses useful enough for daily tasks, but comfortable and stylish enough to wear all day.

Intelligent Glasses Features: What Google And Samsung’s AI Eyewear Can Do

  • Ask About What You See

Users will be able to ask Gemini about things in front of them, from restaurant reviews to cloud formations or a confusing parking sign.

  • Navigate With Ease

The glasses can understand where users are and the direction they are facing, allowing Gemini to provide natural turn-by-turn guidance. Gemini can also add stops to a route or suggest nearby restaurants based on a user’s preferences.

  • Stay Connected, Hands-Free

Users can manage calls, send texts, and hear summaries of missed messages without taking out their phones. The glasses can also play music through private over-ear speakers.

  • Capture And Edit

The eyewear can capture photos and videos instantly. Users can also ask Gemini to edit images, including removing distracting backgrounds or adding playful changes through Nano Banana.

  • Translate Speech And Writing

The glasses can translate spoken conversations in real time with audio that matches the speaker’s tone and pitch. They can also translate visible text on menus, signs, and other surfaces in a user’s line of sight.

  • Get Help With Tasks

Gemini Intelligence can handle multi-step actions in the background, such as preparing a DoorDash coffee order while the user’s phone stays in their pocket. The user only needs to approve the final order.

  • Tap Into Your Apps

The glasses can work with phone apps using voice commands, including ordering rides with Uber or learning with Mondly. They will pair with both Android and iOS phones.

Google And Samsung Pitch AI Glasses As The Next Galaxy Form Factor

The new eyewear is being positioned as part of Samsung’s broader Galaxy ecosystem, where AI can move across devices depending on the task.

“This intelligent eyewear marks an important step in Samsung’s vision for AI,” said Jay Kim, Executive VP and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “With this new AI form factor, we are further expanding the Galaxy device ecosystem, where each device is optimized to deliver unique AI experiences that best fit each form.”

Google is also framing the product as a more accessible way to use AI without constantly looking down at a screen.

“Intelligent eyewear represents a powerful step forward in our shared vision with Samsung to make AI more helpful and accessible in everyday life,” said Shahram Izadi, VP and GM of Android XR at Google. “Combining the best of Google’s AI and the Android ecosystem together with Samsung’s leadership in mobile hardware and Gentle Monster and Warby Parker’s premium design, we are helping users stay connected and fashionable in a more natural, hands-free way.”

Design Partners Put Fashion First For AI Glasses

For Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, the challenge is not just adding AI into glasses, but making the final product feel personal and wearable.

“Intelligent eyewear should feel as emotionally expressive as it is technologically advanced,” said Hankook Kim, Founder and CEO of Gentle Monster. “Our vision was to merge fashion and technology in a way that feels bold, beautiful and human, bringing Gentle Monster’s disruptive design identity into a new era of intelligent eyewear with Samsung and Google.”

“Eyewear is deeply personal, which is why every detail matters when integrating advanced technology into frames people wear every day,” said Dave Gilboa, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Warby Parker. “Our Intelligent Eyewear is designed to feel intuitive, combining Warby Parker’s signature design with precision optics and exceptional comfort to help people stay focused on the moments in front of them.”

For now, Google and Samsung are keeping final specifications, pricing, and broader availability under wraps. However, the message is clear: the companies want intelligent eyewear to become less of a futuristic experiment and more of an everyday AI companion.
