Arcadea expands its position in Brazilian healthcare software with its fourth investment in the sector

TORONTO & RIO DE JANEIRO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Arcadea Group, a preeminent, long-term investor in global software businesses, today announced the acquisition of Sofis, a leading provider of mission-critical software to the Brazilian healthcare sector, focused on hemotherapy and cell therapy.

Founded in Rio de Janeiro in 1986 by Reynaldo Mendes, Sofis’ product portfolio includes Hemote Plus for blood bank and transfusion services management, Cellvida for cell therapy, Salute for hospital management, and solutions across diagnostic medicine, ERP, and business intelligence. Sofis serves more than 300 institutions across Brazil — including hospitals, clinics, laboratories, blood centers, and public healthcare agencies — and its software supports approximately 75,000 blood collections and 150,000 transfusions every month.

“We evaluated a number of potential partners and chose Arcadea because their approach aligned with how we think about running Sofis,” said Reynaldo Mendes, Founder and CEO of Sofis. “They invest with a long-term time horizon, and they understand that serving healthcare customers well requires sustained investment in product and people. Their existing portfolio companies in the healthcare space made it clear their commitment to excellence in our market. This is a significant milestone in our growth journey as we transition from a founder-owned company to one that now has the resources of a leading international player.”

“Sofis is a high-quality business with a differentiated product, deeply embedded customer relationships, and a disciplined operator at the helm,” said Daniel Eisen, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Arcadea. “Reynaldo and his team have spent nearly four decades building software that plays a direct role in patient care across Brazil, and they have no intention of slowing down. Following our investments in Animati, Intuitive Care and WMI, Sofis extends our presence in a market where we see a meaningful opportunity for Arcadea to support companies in their long-term mission to serve healthcare providers with the highest-quality technology solutions.”
