How Grundfos Enabled 201.24 MW Annual Savings And Enhanced HVAC Performance For A Global Pharma Leader

A globally recognized pharmaceutical company operating across 100+ markets sought to improve the efficiency and sustainability of its HVAC operations. Following an in-depth energy audit, significant opportunities were identified to optimise pump performance and reduce energy consumption without compromising operational reliability.

Grundfos implemented a consultative, system-level solution using the System Manager and Optimiser (SMO), transitioning the facility from a traditional primary-secondary setup to a variable primary pumping system. The project was executed in phases to minimise disruption while integrating pumps, chillers, cooling tower fans, and control systems into a unified, data-driven platform.

As a result, the facility achieved substantial performance gains, including a 20.5% reduction in energy consumption, annual savings of 201.24 MW, and a notable decrease in carbon emissions. The project demonstrates how targeted HVAC optimisation and intelligent controls can significantly enhance efficiency, sustainability, and operational performance in energy-intensive pharmaceutical environments.
